Hello, my name is Liz Heald and welcome to your healing journey.
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and CBT & DBT Practitioner based on the Wirral, UK. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an individual member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
As my surname perfectly encapsulates, I have a passion for helping others on their healing journey to find inner peace, by working with clients to explore their issues in an empathic, non-judgemental and impartial way.
My core model is Person Centred Counselling, which is exactly what it says on the tin; each person’s journey is individual and my working approach is tailored to each individual client and their needs – no matter what these may be. I am also further trained with a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Level 3 Diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, allowing for further adaptations to my approach for every client.
I have a varied professional and educational background with studying a BA Social Sciences degree in Philosophy and Criminology at the University of Manchester; I have also had the privilege of studying other areas of the Social Sciences world such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Anthropology and more. I also have experience working within the legal industry, the healthcare industry and lots of volunteer work in Schools, within the community and working with young people and adolescents meaning that I have been able to view the world through many walks of life.
Counselling has changed my life and I want to be able to help others by providing what was offered to me adding my own unique spin on things.
You can also find me on the Counselling Directory, BACP's Therapist Listing & Psychology Today!
HOW I WORK:
I am an Integrative Counsellor with Person-Centred Therapy as my core model, but am able to integrate other areas of Counselling such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy if appropriate/ relevant to my clients and our work.
Integrative Counselling essentially draws on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor the sessions specifically to each individual client.
I also hold further qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy meaning I can utilise these approaches with clients to suit their individual needs too.
Every single human being is unique and it would be naive to purport a 'one method fixes all' approach, especially when it comes to the complexities of the mind and how we think. By working integratively, it allows me to consider the client as an individual; taking into account circumstances, upbringing, past experiences, ways of thinking, personality traits (and the rest!!) By using elements of different approaches, this helps to ensure each Counselling experience is entirely tailored to you.
